چکیده
Reservoir computing is a recent bio-inspired approach for processing time-dependent signals. It has enabled a breakthrough in analog information processing, with several experiments, both electronic and optical, demonstrating state-of-the-art performances for hard tasks such as speech recognition, time series prediction and nonlinear channel equalization. A proof-of-principle experiment using a linear optical circuit on a photonic chip to process digital signals was recently reported. Here we present a photonic implementation of a reservoir computer based on a coherently driven passive fiber cavity processing analog signals. Our experiment equals or surpasses all previous experiments on a wide variety of tasks, and also has lower power consumption. Furthermore, the analytical model describing our experiment is also of interest, as it constitutes a very simple high performance reservoir computer algorithm. The present experiment, given its good performances, low energy consumption and conceptual simplicity, confirms the great potential of photonic reservoir computing for information processing applications ranging from artificial intelligence to telecommunications.

Numerical Calculation of Resonant Frequencies and Modes of a Three-Atom Photonic Molecule and a Photonic Crystal in an External Cavity
In the present paper, resonant frequencies and modes of a three-atom photonic molecule and a photonic crystal placed within a cavity are numerically calculated. First, governing formulation in transverse electric field mode (TE) is obtained using Maxwell equations. Then, an algorithm based on a finite difference scheme and matrix algebra is presented. The algorithm is then implemented in a comp...

Abstract The spontaneous emission spectrum from a driven three-level atom placed inside a double-band photonic crystal has been investigated. We use the model which assumes the upper levels of the atomic transition are coupled via a classical driving field. The transition from one of the upper levels to lower level couples to the modes of the modified reservoir, and the transition from the oth...
متن کاملTheory of phonon-modified quantum dot photoluminescence intensity in structured photonic reservoirs.
The spontaneous emission rate of a quantum dot coupled to a structured photonic reservoir is determined by the frequency dependence of its local density of photon states. Through phonon-dressing, a breakdown of Fermi's golden rule can occur for certain photonic structures whose photon decay time becomes comparable to the longitudinal acoustic phonon decay times. We present a polaron master equa...

In this paper design and two dimensional (2D) simulation of a photonic crystal highly sensitive temperature sensor is presented. The 2D simulations are based on finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method and are done using Rsoft software. The device is constructed using a cavity filled with the distilled water located in the center of the photonic crystal waveguide. The operation of the propos...
متن کاملCoupled-defect photonic crystal vertical cavity surface emitting lasers - Electronics Letters
Photonic crystal patterns containing two defects were fabricated within a large gain area in vertical cavity surface emitting lasers. By designing effective refractive index changes in the region between the defects through cavity shifts caused by photonic crystals, it was possible to coherently couple laser light output from the defects. This enables a novel way to fabricate coherently coupled...
